Venus
The next planet on our list, Venus. Once again, I have an easy version and a tougher version for the older kids.
Mercury
I am starting a new project for science. The kids not only made the solar system hats, but now are learning all about each planet. They will have their own little booklet by the end. I also have included some videos the kids can watch about Mercury:

Audrey Hepburn Copywork
Audrey Hepburn is probably a name your kids don't know yet so you may have to do a little teaching about her. Whether or not you choose to, she had some wise things to say in her time.
4s Multiplication Maze
Even though 4 is a small number, it tends to be one of the last to be memorized. I think that is because so many other numbers are easier to figure out a pattern for. So, here is the 4s multiplication maze with a video from the good old School House Rock series:

North America
We are starting something new for Geography this year. My kids love to study the countries. They each have a notebook used just for Geography. I print off the worksheets and they cut out the countries and glue them onto the continent. It is really hands on and helps them remember where each country goes. Then they can glue the flags on and either glue on the info from the worksheets or take their own notes and write on the pages. The younger ones tend to glue while the olders tend to like to take notes and continue to research their favorite countries. We like to add in music from that country in the background and make traditional recipes from each country as we go. By the end, the kids have some awesome work to show off and lots of recipes to make. We also have a wall in our homeschool room that we use to hang up interesting images of the countries as well as a large flag that the kids usually make. We usually take a full week for each country in order to fit everything in. This is always a favorite of all my kids.
Handwriting pages
There are just too many times I have needed blank handwriting pages to not have one of my own. Here are a few different ones that are really simple. You can print out as you go or print a bunch and make a journal of them. My kids love to draw what they write about so that is what they do with the one with the blank square. It makes journal writing much more fun.
Different Textures
Art is about exploring your world. I think that is why kids enjoy art so much. Most kids love anything that allows them to be hands-on. I use this worksheet to teach about textures. It really helps the kids move beyond simple lines and figures into more complex art. I encourage my kids to step outside and try different things out there. Kids need more sunshine anyway and there are so many more choices for textures when you step outdoors.
Classical Music Education
Music is a big part of our lives. In this house, we LOVE music and have it on pretty much all the time. We have found that the different types of music we listen to greatly effect how well the kids do on their school work as well as their behavior. Studies have also shown a great improvement in education when classical music is played. I also consider learning about classical music to be very important in my kids education.
One day a week, we learn about a new composure and listen to his music. I print off this worksheet for the kids and have them lie down on their backs and close their eyes while listening to the music. They can completely relax and let their imaginations go wild.
After the music is over, I hand them each this worksheet and they get to draw and write about how the music makes them feel and what they thought about while listening. All my kids look forward to this each week and you wouldn't believe what they remember afterward. We will hear the music in stores or various other places and they immediately start talking about what the music is and all about the composer. The information can be easily found online or in books. We like to use a book called, "The Story of the Orchestra" by Robert Levine. This book comes with a CD with the music and explains not only the composures but the orchestra as well. We bought this book years ago and still enjoy it (and no, I don't get anything in return for mentioning this book). There are many other titles available or you can find the info for free online. Whatever works best for you.
